Zwischenbrücken

The name means “between the bridges”. In the 1870s Vienna decided the Danube was in the wrong place and dug it a new bed straight through here. The village went, but the name stayed, still pointing at bridges over a river that had packed up and moved.

That new bed runs along the top right, with the Donauinsel and the Neue Donau beyond it. Made for family we usually visit every summer, sent this year in place of the trip.
